Tasmania is a popular destination for gay and lesbian travellers – on many levels. Since the late 1990s, the state has led the way with some of the most progressive gay laws and policies in Australia. Subsequently, the capital of Hobart, the second city of Launceston in Northern Tasmania, and other parts of the state have become known for gay friendliness.
You’ll find a warm welcome extended wherever you choose to stay, play or dine. The two most popular destinations outside of charming Hobart, are the west coast around Strahan or Cradle Mountain, or the East Coast including in Bicheno and the Freycinet Pennisula.
