Three Sisters - Blue Mountains

A trip to New South Wales would not be complete without a visit to the Blue Mountains. Less than two hours from Sydney by road or train, the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains are one of the country’s most spectacular icons.

The picturesque towns of Blackheath, Katoomba, Leura, Wentworth Falls, Hartley, Lithgow and Oberon afford breathtaking views, a wide variety of restaurants and accommodation (many of them gay and lesbian owned).

There is always something going on in the Blue Mountains. Oktoberfest at the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba serves up German music, German food, German beer and a whole lot of fun. For something a bit more tranquil, the Leura Gardens Festival takes place every October. The Blue Mountains Music Festival of Folk, Blues and Roots is a three-day festival held every year in March and features a selection of artists from around the world and across Australia.

There are many short trips to do in the National Park and surrounds, whether you have only a day or can stay longer. Check out these trips with our Viator partner.
