Every 26 January, the country of Australia beams with pride as Australia Day celebrations go off around the land marking the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet of ships from Great Britain and the raising of the Union Jack flag at Sydney Cove in 1788.

This year will be especially important to me as it is my first year celebrating as an official Australian citizen! Having lived in Australia for 5 years, it is obviously a land that I love but celebrating its national day as a citizen will mean so much more.
